Ultherapy

What is ultherapy?

Ultherapy is proving to be a popular treatment because it offers a form of skin tightening on the face and décolleté without any downtime. It uses ultrasound technology to lift and tighten the brow, cheeks, jawline and neck, and has also been used on the body to firm the tummy and upper arms. It can be used to treat existing signs of ageing and can also help to prevent future deterioration.

Who is an ideal candidate for ultherapy?

If your skin is starting to lose is laxity and seems less firm than it used to be then you may be a good candidate for an ultherapy treatment. It tends to be aimed at those in their late 30s or above who wants to see a tightening effect on their face without going as far as a facelift. This is a treatment which is safe for all skin types as it bypasses the superficial layers of skin, however it may not be as effective on more severe signs of aging.

How does ultherapy work?

Ultherapy uses a high intensity ultrasound which narrows sound-energy waves into a point which can penetrate 4.5mm beneath the skin’s surface. This heats the collagen that is found at this depth, causing it to contract and stimulating the production of new collagen to further tighten the skin over time. The treatment can feel uncomfortable, and so mild pain relief such as ibuprofen is recommended.
