What is radio frequency?
A radio frequency treatment aims to tighten the skin and resurface it using radio waves. It uses heat energy to penetrate to the dermis to create a tightening effect within your collagen. This means that the skin appears tighter, smoother and younger through a non-invasive method and can be used to treat many of the visible signs of ageing such as lines, wrinkles and loose skin.
Who is an ideal candidate for radio frequency?
Radio frequency is a good treatment for anyone showing moderate signs of skin ageing in the face and neck but do not want to undergo surgery. It can treat the appearance of lines, wrinkles and sagging as well as sun damage, but may not be as effective for those with more severe wrinkles or loose skin. As radio frequency treatments cause minimal damage, they are generally suitable for all skin types.
How does radio frequency work?
Radio frequency uses heat energy of up to 42 degrees Celsius on the lower levels of the skin to cause the collagen that is found there to contract as water particles separate from it. As collagen is the scaffolding that supports the skin, when it contracts, it has a tightening effect on the skin, reducing sagging and improving firmness. This can be used as a standalone treatment or as part of a specialist facial and the results can be immediate.
