Kourtney Kardashian changes FDA regulations in beauty

Reality star and entrepreneur, Kourtney Kardashian, has made headlines for creating awareness in Congress about Cosmetic Legislation. In April 2020, Kourtney travelled to Washington DC to work with the Environmental Working Group (EWG) on a project against harmful chemicals used in cosmetic products.

Kourtney understood the safety issues that many cosmetics in America can cause and wanted to make a change. Kourtney believes that these issues deserve reform in America to create a safer beauty environment for customers. Although Kourtney didn’t perform the research about the ingredients of the products, she helped EWG raise awareness for the cause and helped work with the FDA to ensure these products can be regulated.

Scott Faber, the senior vice president of government affairs at EWG stated that at that point in time it had already been more than 80 years since they had Congress pass legislation regarding various cosmetic products. He explained that under law, companies can put any ingredients in their products and customers would never know. Faber praised Kourtney for using her voice and following to create awareness for this serious issue.
