It is important to remember that botulinum toxin is a prescription medicine, and as such, it will need to be prescribed by a registered prescriber who has assessed that it is safe to go ahead with the treatment. How do wrinkle relaxing toxins work?
During your treatment, the practitioner will use a fine needle to inject the botulinum toxin into the required areas of your face. This blocks the signals between the nerves and the muscles, meaning that the muscles can no longer contract and become relaxed. Lines and wrinkles are caused by the repetitive contraction of the muscles over time so by relaxing the muscles it is possible to reduce the appearance of the wrinkles that they create and sloe their progression.
